Eudocimus ruber - Scarlet Ibis Eudocimus ruber gets its common name from this bird's red plumage. Although both the same colour, males are larger and have a longer bill. This species inhabits marshes, swamps, lakes and streams. It lives in large colonies that can have up to thousands of birds. Using its large beak, the Scarlet Ibis catches its prey in the water; crayfish, crabs, insects, frogs and fish. Range:
